New Principal Selected At Christian County High School

Matt Boehman

Christian County High School has a new principal.

After a lengthy closed session during a virtual meeting Tuesday, the CCHS Site-Based Decision Making Council announced Matt Boehman as the new principal at the school.

School district Communications Director John Rittenhouse says Boehman was selected after the Site-Based Decision Making Council interviewed three of five applicants for the principal position.

Boehman has served as the assistant principal at Christian County High School since 2015. According to Rittenhouse, Boehman previously served as principal at Pembroke Elementary School and taught History and coached football at Trigg County High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and two Master’s Degrees from Murray State University.

Boehman said he’s excited to be the next principal of Christian County High School. He added the students and staff are fantastic, hardworking people, and he is honored to be a part of the Colonel family.

Boehman is a native of Evansville, Indiana and his wife Lori teaches music at South Christian Elementary School. They have three sons, Elijah, Blake and Kyle, who attend Christian County Public Schools.

He replaces Christopher Bentzel who was chosen by the school board in March as the new superintendent of the school district on a four-year contract with an annual salary of $145,000. Bentzel begins his duties on July 1st and replaces Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill who announced in November 2019 she was retiring when her contract expires at the end of June.
