A pivotal and well-known member of the local community is hoping to be reunited with a much-appreciated piece of memorabilia during his time in the United States Marine Corps in World War II.
Dale Faughn, former educator and Fredonia native, is on a national hunt for a “buddy” he was very close to during his time in the war.
He adds the M1 rifle, the serial number of which is 965-474, is most likely with a collector.
Faughn states he only had the rifle for the just over two years he served.
He notes he served in the Pacific Theater, mainly in Japan.
