Caldwell Home Suffers Major Damage in Afternoon Fire

A Caldwell County residence suffered heavy damage in an afternoon fire Tuesday. Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis states crews were called to a potential structure fire on Cravens Road around 2:30. He adds when firefighters arrived the blaze had broken through both the front and back doors and was attempting to spread to the attic.

Chief Francis notes crews were on scene for about two hours and were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and living room, however, the house did suffer heavy smoke, heat, and water damage to its interior. He reports investigation revealed the fire originated in the kitchen and was traced to grease in a pan on the stove.

Three people were home at the time of the blaze but were able to safely exit the house and no injuries were reported.

The Eddyville Fire Department provided mutual assistance to the city while Princeton crews fought the blaze. Chief Francis explains they were needed because the city’s second truck was temporarily out of commission due to routine tests.
