Kuttawa Man Killed In I-24 Crash In Marshall County

A two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 24 in Marshall County Monday morning claimed the life of a 79-year old Kuttawa man. State police responded to the scene of the wreck at the 28-mile marker westbound on I-24 shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Police say a preliminary investigation showed Larry Humphrey was driving a pickup truck eastbound on I-24 when, for an unknown reason, the truck crossed the median into the westbound lanes and crashed into a pickup truck driven by 63-year old Robert Medley of Springfield.

Humphrey was transported by ambulance to the Marshall County Hospital where he later died from his injuries. State police say an autopsy is scheduled for Humphrey at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.

Medley reportedly suffered minor injuries to his arm and facial area and refused medical treatment.

The westbound lanes of I-24 were closed for about 4 hours while a reconstructionist investigated the fatal accident and the wreck scene was cleared.
