United Way Of The Pennyrile Receives $35K For COVID-19 Relief

The United Way of the Pennyrile recently received $35,000 from Altria Group to support immediate local coronavirus relief efforts.

United Way Interim Director Betsy Bond says the donation will go a long way in helping agencies in the area provide urgent, basic needs to the area’s most vulnerable residents.

The United Way of the Pennyrile provides support and funding assistance to twenty partner agencies in Christian, Trigg, Caldwell, and Todd counties. The non-profit agencies associated with the United Way in these counties may apply for the funds on the website by clicking here.

According to Bond, the donation is part of a $1 million commitment by Altria to address emergent needs in its headquarters community of Richmond, Virginia as well as its other manufacturing and grower communities.  Altria’s wholly-owned subsidiaries include Philip Morris USA Inc., U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company LLC, John Middleton Company, Sherman Group Holdings, LLC, and other subsidiaries.
