Austin Peay State University announced Monday alumni and friends have stepped up to help members of the college community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The college says they started the Govs Give Back Fund to provide urgent financial assistance for students, faculty, and staff who have suffered severe economic, medical, or similar hardships.
To date, more than 100 Austin Peay alumni and friends have contributed nearly $70,000 to the initiative. That money has covered expenses related to the pandemic, including rent, electric bills, childcare, healthcare, and access to technology.
Kris Phillips, Assistant Vice President for University Advancement, says they are grateful for the support from the community during this challenging time. She adds the selfless giving spirit has helped the members of our college family who need it most.
