Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday afternoon that historical horse racing facilities can reopen Monday.
During his news conference, Beshear said the facilities were added to the June 8 date, which also sees libraries, distilleries, horse shows, and some in-home childcare programs reopen.
Additionally, the governor announced his administration reached an agreement with NASCAR to allow four days of racing at Kentucky Speedway in July with no crowd.
Governor Beshear adds more information will be released Monday about plans to make health care opportunities available for everyone.
Beshear’s news conference, which was slated to start at 3:00 Thursday afternoon, was pushed back and did not start until the live-stream funeral service for George Floyd ended.
The governor also reported there were 295 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 10,705 with at least 3,303 recoveries. Eight news deaths were also reported Thursday, raising the state’s death toll to 458 related to the virus since the outbreak began.
Beshear will host another live news conference Monday afternoon at 3:00 unless something over the weekend warrants an earlier one.
