Eddyville Woman Facing Assault Charges Following Stabbing; Victim Airlifted

An Eddyville woman is facing assault charges following a stabbing that resulted in the victim being life-flighted from the scene Wednesday night.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White states around 9:45 deputies were called to a disturbance on Red Rock Road in which initial dispatch indicated there was a verbal disturbance that could be heard by area neighbors and reports of someone yelling for help. He adds upon arrival at the scene deputies found a male subject in a driveway of a residence who appeared to have been stabbed and an injured female who had returned to the scene.

Sheriff White reports investigation revealed a verbal argument between the female, who was identified as 50-year-old Felece M. Kern, and the male, who has not been identified by authorities, had begun earlier in the day. Sheriff White notes Kern became angry over words spoken by the male subject and supposedly armed herself with a baseball bat and began causing damage inside the residence. The male subject then reportedly responded by causing damage to property owned by Kern and threw an object at her, causing minor injury.

Sheriff White states Kern then allegedly stabbed the male subject, who attempted to assault her again but was bitten by her dog. The male subject tried to leave the residence but collapsed in the driveway where he was later found by deputies.

Sheriff White reports the male subject had a stab wound to his upper torso which required him to be airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment. Once released, Sheriff White notes the male subject will face misdemeanor assault charges.

Kern was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and was then lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Kentucky State Police, Lyon County EMS, Eddyville Fire Department, and Air Evac.
