Hopkinsville Man Charged After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man was arrested after deputies say he led them on a pursuit in Crofton Thursday night.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies say 24-year-old Kenneth Longstreath was seen in the area of Hucks in Crofton in a vehicle stolen out of Hopkinsville earlier in the day.

As deputies responded to the call they reportedly spotted Longstreath on Madisonville Road and attempted to make a traffic stop when he fled at speeds of over a 100 mph.

During the pursuit, he allegedly passed a car on a hill and nearly hit a Kentucky State Trooper head-on before running off the road and down an embankment near Lake Blythe Road.

Longstreath then reportedly fled on foot traveling through a creek and over fences before he was apprehended by Deputy Rick Burgess’s K9 Chopper in a woodline.

He allegedly struck the K9 multiple times during the arrest. Longstreath was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to be checked out before he was taken to jail.

He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, receiving stolen property, second and third-degree criminal mischief, DUI, theft by unlawful taking, and two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police.
