Democratic United States Senate candidate Charles Booker holds a lead over Amy McGrath in the Christian County Primary Election.
Preliminary numbers released following a day of voting at Bruce Convention Center show Charles Booker leading with 717 votes compared to 297 for Amy McGrath. In the Republican Senate primary incumbent Majority Leader Mitch McConnell easily is outdistancing all other opponents with 959 votes.
In the Hopkinsville City Council Ward 1 race incumbent Darvin Adams leads former councilman Thomas Grant by a 43 to 19 vote margin. In Ward 6 Paula Knight leads Ken Hatzakorzian by a 43 to 36 vote difference. In Ward 7 Richard Covington received 46 votes, with Dustin Gilbert receiving 31. In Ward 9 incumbent Patricia Waddell-Bell earned 50 votes, with Ardell Owens garnering 41. And in Ward 10 Steve Keel received 24 votes, with Robert Almy receiving 13, and Nichole Eastman receiving 4.
In the First District Court of Appeals race, Chris McNeill received 717 votes, with Jenny Hines garnering 676, Judge Rene Williams earning 456, and Jason Colthrap receiving 126.
The election totals from June 23 are preliminary, with Christian Election Coordinator Melinda Humphries noting they still have to tally votes from paper absentee ballots and the absentee voting machine at the Christian County Courthouse.
Humphries says she was impressed with the turnout for this primary.
Christian County Primary Election totals will be released Tuesday, June 30.
