Trigg County Public School board members approved to purchase new storage for the band program during their virtual Thursday evening meeting.
Superintendent Bill Thorpe told the board that Band Director Andrew Mroch has asked for it to be purchased to replace the old, outdated wooden storage shelves.
Thorpe adds Mroch will install the new storage units, which will save the district over $11,000.
The district will purchase it with funds available through the FNB Spirit Debit Card program. At the current time, the district has a little over $100,000 to use thanks to the program. The FNB Spirit Debit Card program allows customers who have the Trigg County Wildcat debit card and sign for purchases (not using the debit option), the bank will donate $.10 to the district. The funds are turned over to the district every three months.
In other action, board members approved a formula that would help determine the price for adult meals. Assistant Superintendent Beth Sumner says the cafeteria program would like this approved to make it easier to set rates adult breakfast and lunch.
The prices have not been set yet for adult meals for the upcoming school year.
The board also approved the second reading of Board Policies for the 2021 fiscal year.
Trigg County students are slated to return back to the classroom on Wednesday, August 19, a few weeks later than normal due to ongoing construction in the elementary school. The COVID-19 pandemic has raised a lot of questions for parents and the school district is continuing to work on plans and using guidance from Governor Andy Beshear’s office to determine the best way to operate and keep children safe.
