McConnell & McGrath To Square Off In U.S. Senate Race

United States Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will square off against Democrat Amy McGrath in the November 3 General Election after both were victorious in the June 23 primary.

According to unofficial election results, McConnell easily won the Republican Primary with 342,697 votes. The closest challenger was Wesley Morgan with 25,641 votes.

In the Democratic Primary, Amy McGrath fought off a late challenge from State Representative Charles Booker to win the party’s nomination by a vote of 247,037 to 231,888. Lincoln County farmer Mike Broihier was a distant third with 27,175 votes.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump and former Vice-President Joe Biden easily won their primary elections in Kentucky. Trump received 86 percent of the vote in the Republican primary, with Biden earning 67 percent of the vote in the Democrat primary.

In the Kentucky Court of Appeals District One race it Court of Appeals Judge Chris McNeill, who was appointed to fill the remainder of Supreme Court Justice Shea Nickell’s term, will face Jenny Hines in the November General Election. McNeill received 35,375 votes and Hines garnered 26,334 votes to outdistance Judge Renee Williams. McNeill and Hines will square off in the November General Election, with the winner to fill the remainder of Nickell’s term on the Court of Appeals.
