Torrential rains were the cause of a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 69 in Caldwell County Tuesday morning that injured a Princeton woman.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel says deputies responded to the one-vehicle accident on I-69 just before nine. He adds preliminary investigation revealed 47-year-old Angela Stewart was southbound between the 78 and 79 mile marker when her 2003 Chevrolet Impala hydroplaned causing her to strike the guardrail fence off the right hand shoulder of the roadway. Stewart then struck the guardrail an additional time resulting in the vehicle rotating 180 degrees and coming to a final rest off of the right hand shoulder against the guardrail facing northbound.

Chief Deputy Noel notes Stewart was unable to get out of the vehicle until the wrecker pulled it off the guardrail. She was then transported to Caldwell Medical Center for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wallace Towing & Recovery and Caldwell County EMS.
