Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Lyon County over the July Fourth holiday weekend.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White states deputies responded to reports of a two-vehicle injury collision on US Highway 62 at the intersection of KY Highway 818 North around eleven Saturday morning. He adds preliminary investigation revealed 23-year-old Robert T. Hunt, of Madisonville, was traveling westbound on Highway 62 when he failed to realize a vehicle driven by 72-year-old Peggy Oliver was making a left turn onto Highway 818, which caused Hunt’s vehicle to collide with the rear of Oliver’s vehicle, which then rolled several times before coming to a rest.
Oliver was transported to a local hospital by Lyon County EMS for injuries sustained in the crash. Hunt was transported to a local hospital by a friend for minor injuries where he was treated and released. An 8-year-old passenger in Hunt’s vehicle was not injured in the accident.
Hunt was later charged with failure to produce an insurance card.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Rescue, and the Eddyville Fire Department.
