More information has been released on how the community can help lend their support to Capitol Cinemas, which may be closing indefinitely due to financial hardships brought on by the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
Owner Heidi Boyd says they will be holding curbside popcorn sales Saturday July 11th and July 18th from 3 until 8PM to coincide with the free movies that will be shown at 1PM. She adds they will be taking it back to old school prices and will have a large popcorn, large drink, and a candy of choice for $9 as well as a small popcorn and small drink for $5.
Boyd states they will not be able to do refills for super buckets, however, if you bring your super bucket they will sell you an extra-large popcorn for the same price as a refill. She notes during the first curbside pop-up popcorn sale in April the popcorn machine was very slow, which caused the long wait times, but explains they will be trying something new in hopes to keep the line moving much faster.
Boyd states she has set up an account with Farmers Bank and Trust to raise money for final expenses and the account will only be used toward bills. She has also set up a Venmo for easy digital transactions, all the donations of which will go straight to the theater’s bank account at First Southern National Bank.
Boyd also announces Callen Hillyard, who has a lemonade stand on Maple Street, will be selling orange lemonade and movie theater popcorn balls on Thursday and will then donate all proceeds to the theater.
