Unemployment rates fell in all nine counties in the Pennyrile district in June compared to May with Todd and Lyon counties recording some of the lowest jobless rates in the state last month.
Todd County’s jobless rate for June was 3.3 percent, down from 7.1 percent in May and lower than the 4.2 percent rate for the same time period in June 2019. In Lyon County, last month’s unemployment rate of 3.4 percent is lower than the to 6.7 percent recorded the previous month and lower than the 4.9 percent recorded for June of last year.
Christian County’s jobless rate dropped significantly in June to 5.3 percent, compared to 12 percent in May and was even lower than a year ago when the county recorded a 6.5 percent jobless rate.
In Trigg County, the unemployment rate fell to 4.5 percent in June from 10.0 percent in May and was lower when compared to June 2019 when the rate was 5.1 percent.
The June unemployment rate in Caldwell County dropped to 4.3 percent from 8.6 percent in May and was also down from the 5.7 percent rate recorded for the same month last year.
In Crittenden County, the jobless rate in June fell to 3.6 percent from 7.3 percent in May and was lower than the 5.3 percent rate recorded in June 2019.
Livingston County’s June unemployment rate was 5.2 percent, down from 11.0 percent in May, and 5.3 percent from the same month last yeat.
In Hopkins County, the jobless rate dropped to 5.7 percent from 13.3 percent in May but was slightly higher than a year ago when the rate was 5.3 percent.
Muhlenberg County reported the highest unemployment rate out of nine counties in June at 5.9 percent, a significant drop from May’s rate of 11.6 percent and lower than the June 2019 rate of 7.0 percent.
Kentucky’s comparable unemployment rate for June 2020 was 4.8 percent, significantly lower than the 11.2 percent U.S. Comparable Rate.
