A Marshall County Boy Scout recently completed his Eagle Scout project, which involved work at a popular facility located in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
Friends of Land Between the Lakes (LBL) reports Jameson Wells, who is a member of Scout Troop 2422 in Calvert City, built benches for the 1850s Homeplace. Wells and his troop worked over 30 hours to construct the benches.
Anita Spaulding, the volunteer coordinator with the Friends of LBL, says the extra seating will help reduce groups clustering together and provide improved seating for social distancing.
The project was initiated this spring when the troop participated in a cleanup. The project took four months to complete due to current restrictions and guidelines, but the benches are finished using specific designs from the 1850s.
Wells’ troop had help from sponsors Mitchell Steele Construction, Calvert City Lumber, and Lowes, who all assisted in providing materials for the project.
