Caldwell Home Suffers Significant Damage in Wednesday Fire

A small house in Caldwell County suffered major heat and smoke damage in a Wednesday evening fire.

Princeton Fire Chief Brent Francis states just before 6:30 firefighters were dispatched to a residence near the 1800 block of Hudgins Road in reference to a home on fire. He adds the occupant had recently come home and noticed smoke coming from the roof and when they tried to open the door flames burst out.

Chief Francis reports the occupant was able to keep the fire from spreading by using a water hose until crews arrived on the scene. He states crews were able to extinguish several hot spots and worked to ventilate the home, which had heated significantly due to the fire.

The fire, which likely started in the kitchen area, left significant heat and smoke damage throughout the entire home but a cause is currently unknown.

While no occupants were home at the time of the incident Chief Francis does note several pets were lost in the blaze.
