Trigg County Sheriff on Leaving Office Early

Following the announcement that he was leaving office early, Trigg County Sheriff Jason Barnes released a statement to the News Edge Thursday afternoon.

Barnes spoke with News Director Alan Watts and began the conversation with an apology to residents of Trigg County.

Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander announced Barnes’ resignation Thursday morning. Barnes was elected sheriff in 2018 after defeating then-incumbent Sheriff Ray Burnam in the Republican primary.

The resignation comes after the announcement that Kentucky State Police and FBI were investigating the sheriff’s department in mid-June.
