The Habitat for Humanity Pennyrile Region is officially partnering with Hopkinsville Community College to construct houses for those in need.
Pennyrile Habitat Executive Director Heath Duncan tells the News Edge the program helps provide safe housing for those who can not afford it.
HCC Construction Technology Coordinator Robert Smith says his program is newer and provides hands-on experience.
Smith adds students can earn several certificates when they complete the program.
There are a few already enrolled in the program, but Smith says more can sign-up.
Smith encourages any women who are interested in construction to sign-up for the class.
Duncan says the home will be for a Christian County family.
Duncan adds the partnership means a lot to them, with the Pennyrile Region Habitat for Humanity serving Christian, Hopkins, and Webster counties.
