Christian County Public Schools announced Monday afternoon that Pennyrile Allied Community Services has received a Community Services Block Grant that will help eligible families with school children to access the internet. Families who qualify will receive a voucher for one-year free ‘hot spot’ internet access to assist with virtual learning requirements of school.
Community Services Director Misty Noel said PACS is excited to partner with the school district to provide hot spots for eligible families. She added families needing a hot spot can apply at PACS from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
According to officials, families in the school district should contact the Family Resource and Youth Service Center director at their child’s school for information. The program follows the Federal Poverty Guidelines for eligibility and will require verification from PACS. Officials said the hot spot devices use cellular technology and require the availability of cell service.
CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel said this grant through PACS gives eligible families the opportunity to access their school work as the district works its way through this pandemic. He thanked PACS for their work on receiving this grant and said this is a reminder they are a dedicated community partner.
