The Hopkinsville man accused in connection to a fatal shooting on East 1st Street earlier this month will have his case heard by the Christian County Grand Jury following a preliminary hearing in Christian District Court Monday afternoon.
20-year old Tyresse Hollowell is charged with murder in connection to the death of 39-year old Tiffany Hinton Gray, of Hopkinsville, in the incident that occurred around 2:00 the morning of August 14th. 17-year old Kanina Willingham, of Hopkinsville, was also injured in the shooting.
Hollowell and his defense attorney, Doug Moore, along with Assistant County Attorney Maureen Leamy and Hopkinsville Police Detective Randall Greene appeared virtually for the hearing before District Judge Foster Cotthoff.
Detective Greene testified about the investigation into the fatal shooting that led to the arrest of Hollowell, who turned himself in to police on Sunday, August 16. During questioning by Leamy, Greene said the police department had received several videos from people on the scene that showed Gray’s juvenile son was arguing with Hollowell. During the argument, Hollowell then grabbed a gun from another juvenile on the scene.
Greene said Tiffany Gray was shot twice.
He said Willingham was shot while she was sitting inside a vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Greene said a witness identified Hollowell as the shooter.
During Moore’s cross-examination, the detective said they had recovered one gun during the investigation which was turned over to police by the juvenile who is also charged in connection to the shooting.
Greene said they also collected about 40 shell casings from the scene as evidence.
After hearing testimony, Judge Cotthoff sent the case on to the grand jury and kept Hollowell’s bond at $1 million cash.
