Bond Reduction Denied For McHenry Street Murder Suspect

Robert Earl Torian III

A judge denied a motion for a bond reduction in the murder case of a Hopkinsville man charged in connection to a fatal shooting on McHenry Street last year.

19-year old Robert Earl Torian III is charged in the fatal shooting of 25-year old Terrill Moore of Hopkinsville on August 11, 2019, after a verbal argument while they were passengers in a vehicle. Moore was reportedly sitting in the front passenger seat and Torian was sitting behind him in the backseat. Police said an eyewitness stated Torian got out of the vehicle on McHenry Street, opened the front passenger, door, and shot Moore in the head. Police reported the eyewitness positively identified Torian as the shooter. He is being held in the Christian County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

Torian and one of his defense attorneys, Hannah Peveler, along with Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen appeared before Judge Andrew Self in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.

Bolen said she was speaking on behalf of Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling who is opposed to reducing Torian’s bond due to the seriousness of the crime.

Bolen went on to say it is her understanding everything has been sent to the lab and they are waiting for DNA testing to be completed. However, Peveler said she was unaware of any DNA being found.

Judge Self then denied the motion to reduce Torian’s bond and said he would like to see more communication from the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Judge Self then set a pretrial conference for October 7th.
