Officials with Christian County Public Schools’ announced Wednesday that with the possibility of students returning to in-person classes after Labor Day, the enrollment for the Virtual Learning Academy has reopened.
School officials say board members will discuss a plan at Thursday evening’s board meeting for students currently participating in non-traditional instruction to return to in-person learning. Superintendent Chris Bentzel posted a video on social media Tuesday afternoon stating the board will look at the possibility of returning to in-person instruction in the near future, possibly under the hybrid model. That would allow high school and middle school students to be the classroom two days a week and participating in NTI for three days, while elementary school students would return to in-person classes under the traditional model.
In light of this decision, officials say they are opening up registration for the Virtual Learning Academy so that parents have a choice as to whether or not to send their students back to in-person instruction. Registration for Virtual Learning Academy will be available until Friday afternoon at 3:00. Any parent wishing to enroll their students in the Virtual Learning Academy should complete the registration form which can be found by clicking here.
Officials say it’s important to keep in mind that at this current time they do not have district Chromebooks available to issue to students. They add the district has placed a large order and is working diligently to secure more, but until they become available you will need to have a device available for your student to access the learning platform.
Officials also ask for parents who choose the Virtual Learning Academy to be patient as it will take some time to create the new schedule in Infinite Campus and assign them coursework.
