Governor Andy Beshear announced the second-highest daily death total in Kentucky linked to COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon.
During his news briefing, the governor reported 18 deaths, including an 87-year old woman from Christian County and an 83-year old man from Todd County. Both of those deaths were previously announced by their respective health departments.
Beshear also announced 816 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, raising the total to 49,991.
As of Wednesday, there have been at least 894,808 coronavirus tests performed in Kentucky. The positivity rate currently stands at 4.71%. At least 10,463 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
