A state highway in southern Caldwell County was blocked for several hours Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident.
Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel states deputies were dispatched around 3:45 to reports of a two-vehicle accident without injuries involving a semi tractor-trailer on Highway 139 South, near the intersection of Highway 126. He adds preliminary investigation revealed 58-year-old Vincent Maxey, of Cadiz, was traveling southbound on Highway 139 in a semi tractor-trailer hauling grain when, for unknown reasons, he ran off the side of the road and overcorrected. The semi then came to a rest on its side across the roadway and slid into a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Michael Creed, of Louisville, who had stopped to avoid an initial collision.
Chief Deputy Noel reports neither Maxey nor Creed were injured in the accident but notes the roadway was blocked in this area until about 5:30PM as crews worked to clear the scene.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Princeton Fire Department and Stinnett’s Wrecker Service.
