Halloween Softball and Kickball Tournament to Benefit Book For Hope

Community members are being invited to participate in a Halloween themed softball and kickball tournament later this month to benefit a local non-profit that helps families throughout the area who are dealing with childhood cancer.

Lyon County Fourth Grade Reading Teacher Lindsey Bridges says the tournaments, which will be held Saturday, October 24th at the City County Park in Princeton, will benefit Book For Hope, a non-profit located in Paducah.

She adds she became involved with Book For Hope because of Lyon County native Owen Matthews, who is currently battling a rare type of cancer.

Bridges states the slow-pitch softball tournament is for adults while the kids can participate in the kickball tournament.

She notes because the tournament takes place right before Halloween there are registration discounts for those teams who dress in costume to play. For the slow-pitch softball tournament registration for teams in costume is $200 with registration fees for everyone else $250. For the kickball tournament, registration for third through fifth grade teams in costume is $100 and $125 for teams not in costume and registration for middle and high school teams in costume is $150 while it’s $175 for teams not in costume. All teams must be registered by October 19th.

Even if playing slow-pitch softball isn’t your thing Bridges says all in the community are invited to attend and watch the tournament.
