Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday afternoon the statewide mask mandate has been extended another 30-days.
During his COVID-19 news conference, the governor said this shouldn’t come as a surprise and is a recommendation from the federal government.
The mask mandate will now be in place through at least November 10.
Beshear shared a direct quote from the federal government that said: “Masks must be worn indoors in all public settings and group gatherings should be limited.”
Beshear added the Kentucky Retail Federation recently asked them to consider a mandate that if masks aren’t worn in stores, they must refuse service.
Governor Beshear announced 1,054 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and 4 deaths including that of an 89-year-old man from Christian County, that was previously announced by the local department.
The state’s COVID-19 positivity rate now sits at 4.29%.
