Trigg County school board members Thursday night approved the purchase of two buses and approved submitting two students to enter into a state-level drawing for a scholarship.
Board members were presented with three bids from Thomas, Bluebird, and International for the purchase of a 66-passenger bus and a special needs bus.
At the meeting, Transportation Director Erin Eagleson recommended approving the bid submitted from Thomas for a total amount of $214,771 for both buses. He explained the district has a total budget of $200,000 and has received a Clean Diesel Grant in an amount of $27,500, therefore it would cost the district $187,271. Board members unanimously approved the bid from Thomas with a ten-year warranty on both buses. The 66-passenger bus and special needs bus will also come with analog/digital radios and cameras.
In other action, board members chose students Jenna Cox and Blaine Merritt from a blind drawing to submit their names for the Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) First Degree Scholarship state level drawing. The KSBA will hold the drawing in December and choose two males and two females from all of the school districts in Kentucky for a $2,500 scholarship.
The next Trigg County school board meeting will be Thursday evening, October 22, at 6:00.
