In his first news briefing since quarantining Sunday, Governor Andy Beshear provided an update to the residents of Kentucky from his home.
Beshear and his family went into quarantine after someone in his security detail tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday. Beshear said the staffer is currently experiencing minor symptoms and that he will be getting tested Tuesday, but will remain in quarantine.
In comments made during the briefing Monday afternoon, Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said he remains concerned the state is in an escalating situation.
Stack added this situation is within our ability to influence.
In other comments, Dr. Stack went over what it means to break the chain of transmission.
Governor Beshear confirmed 643 new COVID-19 cases Monday and 3 additional deaths. He added the state’s positivity rate now sits at 4.73-percent.
