Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the single highest day of COVID-19 cases in the state of Kentucky Wednesday.
Although last Wednesday the state reported nearly 2,400 cases, over 1,400 came from Fayette County after a backlog.
During Wednesday afternoon’s COVID-19 briefing, Governor Beshear said there were 1,346 new cases.
Of the cases Wednesday, 171 were among children. Additionally, Beshear confirmed seven new deaths.
The state’s test positivity rate increased to 4.72-percent and there have been a total of 83,013 COVID-19 cases in the Commonwealth.
Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack issued a challenge last week to residents to send him letters on why COVID-19 concerns them. He said he’s received numerous responses.
He added even the people who didn’t agree with his advice, were very respectful in sharing why.
