Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell with Caldwell Medical Center CEO Dan Odegaard

United States Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made a stop in Princeton Thursday afternoon to express his gratitude for Kentucky’s front-line healthcare workers and to discuss the $13 billion impact the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act is making in the Commonwealth.

During the event Senator McConnell explained the CARES Act bill started in his office as a way to provide relief to the American people, as well as struggling businesses and the healthcare industry, which was passed in three weeks with no dissenting votes.

He added he has recently offered another relief bill that would be targeted more toward what the current problems are.

The Majority Leader then gave healthcare officials an update on the current progress of a vaccination.

The Senator ended his update by encouraging citizens to continue to wear masks, or other facial coverings, and observe social distancing to allow the economy to stay open.

Senator McConnell met with Caldwell Medical Center CEO Dan Odegaard, Dr. Mike Littlejohn, Princeton Mayor Kota Young, Caldwell County Judge-Executive Larry Curling, and a number of other city, county, and healthcare leaders in the courtyard at Caldwell Medical Center under rainy skies. Audio of his entire visit can be found below.
