A Trigg County High School student has tested positive for COVID-19. Superintendent Bill Thorpe said the district was made aware of the positive test result Monday morning. He added the district began deep cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the entire school, as per guidelines. School administrators have sent home letters and a phone call to all parents of high school students to be aware of the positive case.
Thorpe said the Trigg County Health Department has begun the contact tracing process and will notify any parent and student if they have been in close contact with the student.
He added the district is committed to the health and safety of students and staff. Therefore, all students and staff will continue following all local and state COVID-19 procedures and regulations for wearing masks and social distancing. The district will also continue all cleaning and sanitization procedures multiple times a day.
Parents, staff, and students are asked to remain at home if they feel sick or have any of the following symptoms of COVID-19:
* Temperature of 100.4 or above
* New, persistent cough
* Vomiting/diarrhea
* New rash
* Exposure to a positive COVID-19 case in the last 48 hours.
Trigg County Public Schools will remain diligent in implementing safety measures for students and staff and cleaning and sanitizing each day. The school asks that parents also remain diligent in checking their students for symptoms each day before sending them to school.
