After being asked by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to open a Paducah office, three federal agencies will soon occupy an office there.
McConnell said Monday morning, the federal government secured a 15-year lease for the offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The federal agencies will occupy a newly-constructed almost 10,000 square foot building off McCracken Boulevard.
In 2018, Senator McConnell announced the FBI and the DEA agreed to his requests to open new offices in Paducah and dedicate additional federal resources to support state and local law enforcement across western Kentucky. Since that time, both agencies have stationed officials in Paducah and will continue to expand their footprint.
Housing the agencies in a single building can facilitate coordination with state and local law enforcement partners. Also, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky Russell Coleman and his team of locally-based federal prosecutors will work closely with the three federal agencies to protect families and communities.
