Trigg Schools Announce Staff Member Tests Positive For COVID-19

Officials with the Trigg County Public Schools announced Monday afternoon that a staff member had tested positive for COVID-19.

Superintendent Bill Thorpe said a Trigg County High School staff member who was last in the school building Thursday tested positive. Thorpe added the school district began extra deep cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the entire school immediately. School administrators have sent home letters and a phone call to all parents of high school students to be aware of the positive case.

The Trigg County Health Department has begun the contact tracing process and will notify any parent or student if they have been in close contact with the staff member and need to be quarantined or tested.

Trigg County Public Schools are committed to the health and safety of its students and staff. Therefore, all students and staff will continue following all COVID-19 procedures and regulations for wearing masks and social distancing. The district will continue to clean and sanitize all areas of the school multiple times throughout each day.

Parents, staff, and students are asked to remain at home if they feel sick or have any of the following symptoms of COVID-19:

● Temperature of 100.4 or above
● New, persistent cough
● Vomiting/diarrhea
● New rash
● Exposure to a positive COVID-19 case in the last 48 hours.

Trigg County Public Schools will remain diligent in implementing safety measures for students and staff and cleaning and sanitizing every day. The school asks that parents also remain diligent in checking their students for symptoms each day before sending them to school.
