Longtime Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Programs Coordinator Toby Hudson was recognized Wednesday for his commitment to his department and statewide affiliation.
Hudson earned the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society (KRPS) 2020 Professional of the Year award.
He started working as a groundskeeper at Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation, but his organizational skills and drive were recognized when he was promoted to Assistant Recreation Programs Coordinator. He would later become the Recreation Programs Coordinator, which he’s held for the past eight years.
Hudson is a graduate of the 2019-20 Leadership Hopkinsville program and past winner of the Christian County Chamber Military Affairs Committee Eagle Ambassadors Service Award. Parks and Recreation officials say he has used his talents and abilities to impact the local level. His list of certifications and membership with multiple turf/grass associations has been crucial in developing the master turf management plan for Hopkinsville’s Western Hills Golf Course.
The KRPS Professional of the Year Award is given to recipients to recognize practicing recreation professionals for outstanding contributions to the profession, displays of distinctive leadership in the field of parks and recreation, and more.
