I-24 Extended Work Zone to Remain Up Over Thanksgiving Holiday

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is alerting holiday travelers that an extended work zone along Interstate 24 through parts of Caldwell, Lyon and Trigg counties will have to remain up over the busy Thanksgiving holiday period.
Spokesman Keith Todd says the high volume of holiday traffic has the potential to create travel delays at the work zone that stretches 13-miles in these counties.

According to Todd, the work zone from the 51 to 65-mile marker is expected to remain up into mid-December. He says the extended work zone includes two-way traffic running on the westbound lanes with a centerline barrier wall and an additional four-miles of lane restrictions with traffic barrels. He adds the section with traffic barrels from the 65 to 69-mile marker is expected to be open to full traffic flow by Thanksgiving.

Todd says the temporary closure of the eastbound exit and entry ramps at the KY 139 Princeton-Cadiz Exit 56 Interchange in this work zone has been extended to about December 10. Both westbound ramps at this Interchange are open.

Motorists traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday period are encouraged to monitor the I-24 work zone for potential traffic backups going to Google Maps, or the WAZE website or app.
