A Dawson Springs man facing murder and other charges appeared in Caldwell County Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon in connection to two separate cases.
Joe Curnell was indicted in September for murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from July 3rd when Kentucky State Police reported Curnell had a handgun and shot 24-year old James Bannister of Eddyville in the 100 block of Wood Lane in Caldwell County. Bannitser was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
In addition, Curnell was charged in September by Princeton Police with promoting contraband after staff at the Caldwell County Jail found him in possession of a sharp object that could be used to injure employees or other inmates.
Curnell and his attorney, Andrea Moore appeared virtually before Judge Woody Woodall for an arraignment an entered a not guilty plea in connection to the promoting contraband charge.

Curnell remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
