Governor Andy Beshear, Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman, and other top education officials in Kentucky announced the creation of the Commonwealth Education Continuum Thursday afternoon.
Beshear said the program would assist students as they transition through the state’s public education system.
Beshear added the transitions could be scary for students and their parents.
The Commonwealth Education Continuum is co-chaired by Lt. Governor Coleman and two other key members of education in the state.
The continuum will focus on the need to increase and improve the quality and competencies of a diverse teaching workforce and increase student and family access to an awareness of opportunities for students to achieve the necessary degrees and credentials to enter the workforce successfully. The first meeting of the continuum will be held in January.
