A sizeable crowd gathered Saturday morning at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West to lay wreaths on the graves of veterans and families that are buried there.

The local service is normally a large event that attracts a crowd for a public ceremony and wreath laying ceremony. Events were altered this year because of COVID-19 the need to avoid large gatherings and maintain social distancing.
The wreaths are provided each year by donations to the Gold Star Wives chapters and other groups around the country by donations from local organizations such as the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans and others.
Similar holiday wreath laying ceremonies take place at cemeteries across the country on the Saturday leading up to Christmas.
