Kentucky’s positivity rate from COVID-19 testing has dropped for a fourth straight day heading into the Christmas holiday with new cases under 3,000 in the state for the third time in the past four days.
The state added 2,953 new cases Wednesday, with a total of over 71,000 just shy of November’s total of cases.
There were 26 deaths linked to the virus reported on Wednesday, although statewide death totals usually run 2-3 weeks behind the announcements made at the local level.
Kentucky’s positivity rate was 8.3-percent, the lowest since November 12.
Kentucky reported 1,644 people hospitalized with the virus, including 413 in the ICU. This comes on the same day Tennessee reported 7,221 new cases, 111 deaths, and 2,934 people in the hospital with COVID-19 issues.
