Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is celebrating a local icon’s 50 years of service.
Program Coordinator Pam Rudd, who was inducted into the Kentucky Parks and Recreation Society Hall of Fame Class of 2019, tells the News Edge she has no plans to retire.
She says she has enjoyed watching programs grow that she helped create over the years.
Superintendent Tab Brockman adds they will be celebrating more soon.
He adds she has embraced every challenge over the years.
In other news, Brockman notes their upcoming events calendar is subject to change, but they have a variety of events planned for the new year.
Rudd started as a part-time programmer in 1971 and moved to full-time status in 1997 after retiring from her career as a secondary school physical education teacher at Hopkinsville Middle School. She served as interim parks director from 2005-2007.
