Christian County Health Department officials gave an update concerning the distribution of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine during Tuesday morning’s meeting of Christian Fiscal Court.
Health department director Kayla Bebout told Christian County magistrates during their meeting; the county saw its highest weekly increase in cases last week.
Bebout added they had been selected as a regional COVID-19 vaccination provider.
The regional vaccination clinic will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the James E. Bruce Convention Center through Thursday.
The Christian County Health Department is the only health department in Kentucky administering the vaccine regionally. Bebout said they are receiving help from Jennie Stuart Health.
Bebout added they would soon transition to the 1B phase of vaccinations for those 70 or older, first responders, and K-12 school personnel.
On Monday afternoon, the health department announced 34 new cases from Sunday and Monday.
The department reported 4,932 total cases, 815 of which are active, with 482 between 22 and 59. Additionally, the county has 213, either 60 or older, and 120, 21 or younger.
The county has reported 4,053 recoveries and 64 deaths since mid-March.
