Christian County Students Returning To In-Person Instruction Tuesday

Public school students in Christian County will return to their classrooms beginning Tuesday. In an announcement Thursday afternoon, school officials announced that based on the current COVID data and trends, Christian County Public School students in grades K-12 will return to in-person instruction 5 days a week January 19.

Among the reasons cited for the decision to return to the classroom were: Jennie Stuart Health patient capacity has returned to normal wintertime level; CCPS staff positive cases and quarantines have decreased; and daily positive COVID cases in the community are trending downward.

School officials added that all CCPS staff requesting the COVID vaccine are in the process of receiving their initial dose.

As in-person classes resume, all students attending in-person instruction must wear masks, social distance when possible, and follow all other “Healthy at School” guidelines. Students in grades 7-12 must have their Chromebook with them each day they are in school. Sports and extracurricular activities will resume Monday, January 18, 2021.

Virtual Learning Academy students will continue to receive 7-day meal bundles each Friday at their assigned school from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

School officials add that they will continue to review COVID-related data daily and will update and inform parents and shareholders as necessary.
