The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department released its weekly activity report Sunday morning regarding arrests made in the county last week, including a Marion man and Princeton woman who were charged with trafficking meth and criminal trespassing.
Sheriff Brent White reports on Sunday morning, January 24, shortly after 1:15 he observed a suspicious vehicle pull into the driveway of an elderly female on U.S. 641 North. After an investigation, Sheriff White says 49-year old Timothy Matthews, of Marion, and 50-year old Nikonia Ware, of Princeton, were taken into custody and charged with their second offense for trafficking in a controlled substance – greater than two grams of methamphetamine, third-degree criminal trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ware was also charged with possession of synthetic drugs.
On Monday, January 25, Deputy Keith Suits arrested 27-year old Dillon Ray Phelps, of Eddyville, with his third DUI offense. Sheriff White says deputies and Probation & Parole had been trying to locate Phelps when he was found on Saratoga Heights Road, about eight miles southeast of Eddyville.
In addition, Deputy Seth P’Pool charged 52-year old Amy Phelps, of Eddyville, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was cited and given a court date in Lyon District Court.
On Wednesday, January 27, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing complaint on Wynn Road, south of Eddyville where Deputy Sam Adams found 39-year old Benji Trafford, of Eddyville, on private property without permission. Sheriff White says Trafford was later found to have been armed with a firearm while being out on bond for trafficking meth with one of those his bond conditions was to not possess any firearms. Trafford was taken into custody and charged with contempt of court/resistance to order. In addition, Sheriff White says Trafford was charged with numerous hunting-related offenses by a Conservation Officer with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
