A boil water advisory is in effect until further notice for Barkley Water customers along Hardy Road in Trigg County.
Barkley Water District Superintendent John Herring says the advisory extends along Hardy Road to the intersection with McAtee Road. The advisory also includes Old Rocky Point Road and Long Ford Road. The advisory area extends to but does not include McAtee Road. Herring says the advisory was issued after Barkley Water crews located and repaired a water main leak near the intersection of Kings Chapel Road and 272.
Herring says the advisory will remain in place until the Kentucky Division of Water certifies the water is free of contaminants. He says the samples will be sent to the lab Thursday morning for testing.
According to the CDC, a boil water advisory means those in the affected area need to use bottled or boiled water for drinking and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, then allow it to cool before use. Boil tap water even if it is filtered.
Do not use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.
