Trigg County reported seven new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and stayed out of the ‘red’ on the state’s incidence rate map for a third straight day.

However, three of the seven cases reported involved people 21 and under.  For the month, 17 of the 56 cases have been people 21 and under.  In January, only 14-percent of the county’s cases were 21 and under.

The number of cases in the 60 and older age group makes up 25-percent of the February cases in Trigg County, down from 30-percent in January.

According to the state’s COVID data website, there is only one active case in Trigg County’s three long-term facilities. However, Better Senior Living has not reported any cases in the past year despite confirming an outbreak last year.

The same website shows one COVID-19 case reported in the Trigg County School System this week compared to eight students and one staff member last week. The school is reporting 21 students and two staff members in quarantine this week.

Trigg County’s incidence rate is 24.4 per 100,000 population putting the county out of the red for a third straight day for the first time since early November.
