February is Heart Health Month, a time to shine a spotlight on ways to keep your heart healthy.
American Heart Association Division Director Suzanne Riley tells the News Edge heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and worldwide.
While eating healthy and exercising are important, regular visits with your doctor are also important.
Typically, the local chapter of the American Heart Association hosts a Heart Walk event in April. Still, Riley hopes to host that event on June 19 at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville.
Money raised through events across the country help the American Heart Association to continue funding important research.
