Indian Hills Elementary Principal Retiring At End Of School Year

Christian County Public Schools announced Friday the retirement of Indian Hills Elementary School principal Tonya Oakley.

The district reports Oakley’s retirement is effective at the end of the current school year.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel said Oakley epitomizes true leadership and that her impact and devotion to public education are felt daily by her students and teachers.

Oakley holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with Rank One status from Murray State University. She began her teaching career in 1994 at Trigg County Elementary School and would later teach at Millbrooke Elementary School. She also served many positions within the Christian County Public School system before becoming principal at Indian Hills Elementary in 2015. Oakley also serves as an adjunct teacher at Murray State University in the Elementary Education department.

Oakley plans to spend more time with her daughter, Olivia, an eighth-grader at Christian County Middle School.
