Sixteen New COVID Cases Reported at WKCC in Lyon County Thursday

The Pennyrile District Health Department reported sixteen of eighteen new COVID-19 cases announced in Lyon County Thursday are from the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex.

As of Thursday, the department of corrections reported 276 active cases involving inmates at the facility and 32 active cases among staff.

The outbreak was reported by the health department last week when officials announced 214 new cases of COVID-19 in Lyon County, with all but six coming from the correctional facility that has a Fredonia address but is located in Lyon County.

Also on Thursday, Caldwell County and Trigg County each reported one new confirmed case of the virus. The case in Caldwell County involves a 62-year old male recovering at home.

There were no new coronavirus cases reported in Crittenden or Livingston counties.
